This is directed to those who have not done a lot of Steelheading with a fly rod or those who have and just have not done well.
First off, it's not really easy fishing so if you are not fishing the right techniques on the right water on the river it is almost impossible with a fly rod.
Try to get into one of these inexpensive local group seminars for Steelhead.
You can also get out a half-day in the morning with a local guide/instructor. Maybe you can share the trip with someone on this BB to keep it less expensive?
Some of the local fly clubs have Steelhead outings too.
Maybe someone here on our message board would volunteer to take someone out Steelheading on the Lower American River?
It is Steelhead time, now through spring.
We have lots of veteran Steelheaders that work at our fly shop so come in a get some good advice.
