This morning I drove down to the low flow on the feather. I was on the west side of the river and we came flying around the corner to see a brindle Boxer sitting on the levee. The dog looked like it hadn't eaten in weeks. We tried to get her to come to the truck to give her food, only to realize we didn't have any. I got out and tried to pet her and she took off running. We couldn't see where she went so we drove down to whitegate, fished for a hour, and came back to see her sitting there on the levee again. I finally got her to come to me and that's when i realized how bad this dog was. I made the decision to put her in the truck.

Long story short, I have another boxer sitting next to me on the couch. That makes 2 for the house. We took her to the vet and they said she was healthy and just needed vaccines. It turns out the dog has had multiple litters of pups. The dog is full of personality after 2 cans of food and a bunch of water. She is slowly but surely regaining energy.

Awesome.

By the way, I named her Feather.

Folks that dump unwanted pets off in the bush to become feral or starve should be kicked dead in the ass . Nice going Darrin !

LUCKY... Feather

won't be LIGHT as a feather for long.

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains

PS

Good on ya' for takin' up the slacker's slack...

Awesome dude! She's a beautiful dog and deserves a nice home. I have a lab/pit mix that was rescued and he has become a real good boy. Rescuing a dog or cat is most gratifying to say the least. Good on you.

She is a beautiful addition to your family, good for you for saving a life. The cat in my avatar is a rescued kitty and I could not be happier to have her.

Good for you Darrin. It seems like that area is a dumping ground for unwanted pets.In 2003 I was walking a trail to the river and found a couple of kittens. They were dirty with matted hair and wolfed down a tuna sandwich I gave them. I brought them back to my vet, while he checked them out, I called my wife and told her the story. She said she wanted to see them. Long story short, two of the best cats we have ever had.
