Since I have the day off and the site seems a little slow on fish porn and good vibes I thought I would post about our recent trip.
2 weeks ago me and a couple fishing buddies went on our 5th annual steelheading trip up north. Some of you may recognize the place but I have been sworn to secrecy about this "Serpentine" type of river. It was a 16 hour drive and I got a ticket in Parma, Idaho(who's the ho) at 3:30 am. Last year I got one in Oregon.
We caught all our fish on floating lines with traditional and some of our own steelhead patterns using the swing/two step method. We used spey rods, not $5,000 dollar rigs as I've seen written on this message board but more than $400. Two fish were caught with string leech patterns.
The rivers were a little crowded but most everyone was friendly and courteous. Except for this one guy who was fishing 100 yards behind me on the other side of the river. I'm two steppin down this run and this guy yells out, "Hey, are ya steelheadin or practicing casting". We yelled at eachother for a few minutes, I finished the run quickly and stormed off. Iguess he got what he wanted, he got me off the water. I'm not the best caster but jeez this guy was a dick. So through out the rest of our trip when one of us started struggling with our casting we would yell over to the offending party, "Hey, are ya steelheadin or practicing casting".
Some cool guy named Dave who had just finished fishing for the morning gave me his barbelled black string leech. Made me clip it right off his line. I caught a nice wild male with in 3 cast.
We had a great trip met some cool people and caught some feisty steelhead. Anyway here are a few pictures from our trip. For any of you photo nerds out there who are wondering what photographic instrument I used for these pictures, it was a wet and steamy waterproof Kodak disposable camera.
Some times the results turn out pretty good.

Dustin with a nice hatchery female....I know, I know, he should have kept it in the water.

"Lame Hero Shot"..........Whatever.

Captain Lewis Rapids. The picture does not do these waves justice, they were at least 6 feet tall, take river right.

Nice wild hen.

Sorry but this was my only shameless "hero" shot....Dustin could ya stand a little closer.

And the last shameless "hero" picture. Dustin imitating Jimmy Hendricks at the Monterey Pop Festival. I swear everytime he poses with a steelhead it looks like he is playing the steelhead guitar. This was the biggest fish of our trip that we estimated to be about 30".
