Don't miss the Fly Fishers of Davis meeting at 7:30 p.m. on October 27 at Holmes Jr. High School for an in-depth look at fishing with indicators and how to read them. Please join us and Ryan Miller as he shares his observations on fishing with indicators. You will leave a more educated and effective fly fisher and gain a broader understanding of indicators and what they are truly about. Not only will we look at "strike" indicators, but we will look at a variety of other indicators that might be new to you. This session will open your eyes to new ways of analyzing fishing variables. If we stop and look, smell, feel and sense internal and external indicators we will not only have a better chance at hooking more fish, but we might enjoy our surroundings more. You will not want to miss this one; all attendees will receive a ten-page, in depth manual on fishing with indicators, plus have a chance to purchase the "WATCHIT" indicator.

Ryan Miller grew up in Nevada City and under his dad's tutelage began fly fishing many of our local waters. For more than a decade Ryan has been consumed with the art and science of fly fishing. He has guided eight incredible years and over half of them have been while working for himself. For Ryan, guiding has never been a job, always a joy. Another facet of fly fishing Ryan enjoys is teaching, which led him to start DownStream Fly Fishing. This is an annual program dedicated to providing students with Down Syndrome an opportunity to experience the benefits of fly fishing. For more information on Ryan please visit http://www.NorthernWatersFlyFishing.com.

After graduating high school, Ryan attended California State University, Chico. In between classes he was on the river... after classes he was on the river...There is no question why it took him six years to finish his degree in Recreation Administration. After graduating with a B.S. in December of 2007, he was hired as a fly fishing travel agent by Angling On The Fly. Working side by side with Keith Kaneko, he is dedicated to providing the traveling angler with the world's most unique fly fishing destinations.

The Fly Fishers of Davis normally meet to swap lies and fish stories at 7:30 p.m. on the last Tuesday of the month at Holmes Junior High School. The meetings are free and open to newcomers and guests. If you're interested in learning to fly fish come to the meeting to hear about our Fly Fishing 101 course.
