Where did you hear the name of this material   It doesn't seem to be mentioned by name in the video.... At any rate, it looks a lot like any of a number of other flat, flashy (mylar) material.

It definitely looks like Angel Hair. Altho I've used quite a bit of Angel Hair, I still curse it for all the difficulty in working with it. Ever tried to tie a fly using Angel hair in very low humidity conditions   Static electricity makes it almost impossible to control. ARRRrrrrgghh!!!!

His company is called Polaris Flies and he sells a whole mess of fly tying materials, including the Nuclee-r Emission Wing material. Pretty interesting techniques he's doing using variable set heat guns. I almost bought some of his stuff until I found out what a variable set heat gun costs! Ain't no way I'm spending that kind of moohlah!!! His website is at: http://www.1a-fly-fishing.com/

I still have a bunch on near-new packages sittin' around . Had them since 1998 ?? I'll use a tiny amount for a topping , but just too difficult to handle to use very often , kind of messy and wasteful ....

Geeez guys, if you all hate Angel Hair I'll be happy to take all of your packages off your hands for ya! It's one of my most utilized fly tying materials!!! It ain't nowhere near as messy as spinning with deer hair!!!

It's no way like angel hair. The cut is different and it's blended with another material. Also, when you heat it it becomes irridescent and is mixed with a UV material. I have some and finally found a suitable heat gun at home depot a few weeks back after about 6 months of looking here and there every now and then (basically, most don't come with a reducer nozzle that's almost key for forming the heads on the fly when you use the material) but this one had all the attachments even a spreader nozzle. I think the gun was like $60 but the wife has already got other ideas for it.... Haven't played with the stuff too much but it has potential.

I think one of the best flies he came up with is the Ghost Rider. I'm going to tie some of those up and see if the striper like them next year. Some of the videos are pretty amusing. He's a pretty nice guy too but has some opinions.

Edit: Darian, he has a whole mess of videos. You have to start at the beginning because he kind of made a series where he introduces the material and describes it and then he goes into tying all sorts of different patterns. Some of his other materials are pretty interesting and unique as well.

The ghost rider pattern looks like it would be a great striper fly, his saltwater patterns look good also.
