This is one of the best instructional videos I have seen explaining Ed's methods for skagit casting.

Bruce and I were very lucky to spend 2 of the 4 days on our recent Grand Ronde trip fishing with him and it was information overload - he was able to really explain some of the finer points so when i watched the video after I got back it really made total sense!! When you do it right it is sure effortless!!!

If you want to hire Ed Ward to guide and teach you Skagit style casting and fishing here is some contact info:

http://speywater.com/Rates_and_Contact_Info/Index.html

Spey Water guide service is Ed Ward, Scott O'Donnell and Mike McCune who guide all summer at top Alaskan lodges, then in the fall they guide on the Grand Ronde and in the winter they guide on the OR and WA coast.

It is all with two-handed rods and Skagit lines.

These are the guys who prompted me to can the phrase" Skagit Commandos".

Ed does a very nice job in this video explaining his concepts of casting. His use of props helped me to understand some of the finer points that when he explained it to me on the water did not sink in.

Also there is a nice tutorial on splicing line and he demonstrates how he ties an Intruder.

I think that this is the best learning tool I have seen.

Dustin, you should look for used copies. I sold mine a couple of weeks ago. I've seen others doing the same. Check speypages.

I thought it was okay. I'm not sure what I expected, but that wasn't it. I watched it a couple of times and that was enough. I seem to be in the minority though. (BTW, I found the non instructional portions of the video the most interesting).
