Truckee camping ? were

Hi everyone i am trying to find out if you can camp along the Truckee river legally, was wondering if anybody has done this before. If not along the river what's the closest camping you can do ?

There's a campground on the Little Truckee that isn't bad.

Martis is the nicest campground around. Quiet, clean and close. Boca at the Mill is okay, but if there are more than a few people there it seems crowded. That valley really holds in the humidity and sun takes a while to get over the hills.
