The weather has cooled and we received our first dusting of snow in Mount Shasta this weekend. Flows on the Upper Sac and McCloud continue to be low and clear, the October Caddis and Olives are hatching and the fish are on 'em. The Lower Sac has dropped to 6,000 cfs with Salmon spawning and dropping eggs providing an excellent opportunity for a rainbow of a lifetime.

The Pit continues to have access and flow issues but when it is open and clear folks have enjoyed epic days. The Fall River has been fishing well with dry fly hatches increasing daily. Traffic has been light on all rivers but that is changing as folks head out for their trout season finale.

Early Steelhead runs have arrived and with encouraging reports from downriver we are anticipating very strong runs on the Klamath and Trinity Rivers this fall. These are superb rivers to learn the art of steelheading and now is the time to schedule your trip particularly if you are interested in finding fish on the swing.
