I've got a Sage VPS (~RPL, Graphite III) 9' #9 4-piece in new condition. I bought this a few weeks ago off the board and then a 2-piece RPL showed up (which I prefer) so this one's up for sale. This would be a good striper rod for the delta and the American. $175

great price for a nice looking rod...I could but I shouldn't...I dunno how to use a single hander...spey has ruined me :paranoid:

That would be a good rod for Stripers, King Salmon, Permit or Baby Tarpon.

Cheap backup too.

What are the characteristics of this rod... would it be good for casting a 9wt rio outbound short floater?

The rod is reasonably light weight in the hand with what I'd say is a
medium fast action/medium heavy power. I think it would be suited for throwing shooting heads and that 9 wt rio short floater.
If it were a 9-weight z-axis, RPXi2, GLX CC, etc., I would say you should line up a weight on your floater to at least a 10 wt, but the VPS is a little slower and should be fine with a #9

Still got the rod? Might be interested in it. I've just started striper fishing in the delta and I own a Loomis 8wt GL4 9'. I hooked into a 21inch Striper and thought I might need a stiffer rod. I landed him but it took a little time.:fish:

Still got it. It should have more power than an 8-weight
