Try to float the river if you haven't done so before.

It opens up an entire new fly fishing world to you.

For many years I was only wading the river and loved just doing that.

For the past 10 years or so I have been doing more floating than wading.

Floating the river is very exciting because you see things that you wouldn't normally see while wading in one area.

While floating mid-day you can see big Stripers swimming below you and it is so exciting.

You can float and cast for Stripers all summer.

You can anchor and cast for Shad in the Spring.

You can float and stop, getting out to wade fish for Steelhead in the fall, winter and spring.

You can float and indicator fish for Steelhead in the winter.

**You can hire a local fly fishing guide like Charlie Gonzales, Andy Guibord, Keith Kaneko or Jeff Putnam to float the river for the first time to see what it is like.
