Fished the Klamath Sat and Sun with Bruce. Our mentor and good friend Bob Kelly, a retired HSU prof who taught fly fishing classes through continuing ed at HSU (Bruce and I helped instruct with him for around 15 years) came out from Bozeman to fish with us. It was a zoo at the boat launch and up river with all parking spots taken - Saturday it rained much ofthe day and fishing was fair - we all had adult fish - 4 in all and maybe two dozen nice half pounders. The highlight for me was starting out I put on a foam skating fly and was popping it on the surface and hooked around a 4# adult - the fly was a take off of the foam floaty fly from the Location X Video on tarpon!!! Had several other grabs and boils on floating flies throughout the day but no more hookups on top. At teh last place we stopped Bruce hooked a very big fish he never saw that pulled loose

Sunday was a mixture of overcast and sun and was much slower (close to a full moon which sucks on the Klamath!!) But both Bruce and I hooked really big fish but they came unbuttoned. There are alot of salmon in the river which is great to see and many of the boats are limiting out! It was great to get back up there and lots of fun to fish with Bob!!

Likely will not get back up there until October as Bruce and I are headed to the Grand Ronde in a couple of weeks to fish with Scott, Mike and Ed (the three skagiteers!!)

Probably from Klamath Glenn up stream to Johnson's Bar in Bruce's jet boat.

Lower 20 miles of the river.

yup - we went upstream as far as Metah but most of our fishing was from Pecwan downstream

Small world...

One of my favorite professors at HSU when I attended (late 1980's) was Bob Van Kirk also a fly guy from Bozeman...

I believe he retired from academia many years ago and returned home to fly fish for the remainder of his life

I know Bob Van Kirk very well - he is a great guy and his son Robby is a great fisherman in his own right and has worked very hard to try and get the Henry's Fork back though I think it is a lost cause - one of the saddest things to see go in my lifetime!!!!!
