I hear the river is coming down now and in the last few weeks many have been seeing and hooking larger double digit Stripers on flies.

Guides Charlie Gonzalez and Maury hatch have been doing well for their customers so i would get out with them soon.

Terry Jenkins and Joe Shirshac have been doing well too with several fish over 20# last week.

I believe that local guide Charlie Gonzales has been using the big Airheads on a clear slow sinking line early and late and he says that the big Stripers have been coming up to them which is visually exciting too.

It usually slows in the river in the fall as it cools down and most will then head for the Delta and Reservoirs for Stripers and LMB.

Joe Shirshac is one of the oldest fly fishers we have left in Sacramento who is still out there after them weekly at 87 years old.

Joe has caught some really big Stripers on flies and here is another nice one he caught on August 10, 2009 on the Lower American River.
