Granite Bay Flycasters, Upper American River Foundation, and Sac-Sierra Trout Unlimited need your help on Saturday, Aug. 15 to do some stream restoration on Pagge Creek and Sugarpine Reservoir, both on the Shirttail Creek, a tributary to the North Fork American River.:fish:

We will meet at Foresthill Ranger Station at 8:00 am on Saturday (tomorrow!) to help restore/recapture the creek from the destruction caused by off road vehicles, careless shooters/litterers and others contributing the 5% who are irresponsible users of our National Forests:cry:.

For more information, Contact: Bill Templin (GBF Member) and UARF/Sac-Sierra TU Board Member by phone at 916-601-9954 or by email at wetemplin@att.net. We need open bed pick ups [-o<and people willing to help hall out trash and litter. We have litter getters, trash bags, gloves and as awards some tee shirts, water bottles and license plate frames from Keep California Beautiful on a first come/first served basis.

Lunch provided by GBF and fishout at Sugar Pine Reservoir and Shirt Tail Creek following lunch! Bring your tubes, waders, etc....

It's Exercise with a purpose plus lunch and a fishout! How can you go wrong?=D>

Awww, I'm such a sucker for these things.

I'll be there, and I have a truck that's done this before.

8am at the Foresthill Ranger Station.

WOW! What a MESS we cleaned up today!

8 GBF members (2 also UARF and/or S.S.-TU), 3 S.S.-TU members, a father/son team of cub scouts and a volunteer from our very own Kiene's BB (ED!) were at the Foresthill Ranger Station this morning at 8:00 am to get our instructions for the morning's tasks. We split into 3 groups for more effective coverage. By the time we all showed back up for lunch, we had gathered 5 pick-up loads of trash, shotgun shells, various items dumped and/or used for target practice[-X.

Bill Templin cooked us all burgers and hot dogs, while we swapped horror stories of disbelief of what we had cleaned up. On the way out, we managed to find another pick-up load of junk that looked like someone had torn apart a camper or 5th wheel and dumped it. AMAZING.](*,)

We ended the day unloading the 6 pick-up loads of junk and debris at the Foresthill transfer station on the way back to town.

The good news is that none of that stuff will continue to affect the American River watershed. It is now where it belongs! :D

We need to throw some credit to the man behind the camera too.

Paul Egan, man of many talents, worked his tail off and did the camera work.

When one of your spots is going to hell, you know who to call for some help.
