After a surprisingly decent outing last week I decided to sneak out on the Delta after work tonight. Met my fishing partner/photographer at the house and headed out for a night not to be forgotten. Started fishing around 6:30 along a tulie wall with little steeper shelf than I normally fish. Water temp was 72 and visibility was around 4 feet. Started out pretty slow with a couple of little takes here and there throwing a Jungle Frog Gurgler. About 45 minutes into it Bam!!! Huge toilet flush on the fly. I set up to feel the rod yank right back down and watch my line take off in a hurry. After a few seconds I was on my reel for the fist time with a LMB. All I can think to myself is "stay on the line, stay on the line, stay on the line". After a serious timeless battle we were finally able to get the fish to hand. Hard to believe my scale is on my desk at home I don't know bass much but I am shooting around 8 ish lbs give or take but who knows. All in know is it was the biggest I have landed let alone seen.

Ok so I got a little greedy with this picture, I had to do it.

This came out a little blurred but you can see the shoulders this fish had.

First fish of the night right there, it was great experience and man do I love the Delta. From there I hand my partner a similar fly but in a Slide ball style. Went about 15 minutes with nothing then I get a little blow up set in on him and he started rolling on the surface then took off it was a Striper and not a bad little Striper either.

The night is definitely looking up now. As I am casting I hear a blow up in the back to hear fish on from my partner. Really good fish behind a weed line I get on it best I can as the fish buries into the weeds I got a glimpse of the tail and that fish was not under 4 lbs as I work my way down the line it goes slack. A definite loss this fish was big. After that things quieted down a little and we enjoyed some scenery.

Decided to give it a few more cast and call it night. As I am about half way back to the boat with my fly I see a small swirl behind the fly and I remember while fishing with KD he said some of the bigger fish will be nothing but a little boil then will come after it. So I paused it for a second and started stripping again and sure enough had another good fish on. This was my fourth fish of the night and if you take away my big boy this fish would have made my night himself.

All in all grand total 5 fish mixed bag with the stripie thrown in. Got to love the Delta.
