August can be a tough month in many place due to the extreme heat.
Also flows can be very low with lots of spooky fish.
Seems like the Stripers are feeding in the Lower American River though.
For many years I have had good reports on the Lower Feather River in August for Smallmouth Bass? Andy & I will be headed there this month.
I think the Delta would be a good bet for LMB because of the diverse water temps down there.
Higher elevations should be best for trout fishers. 8,000 feet plus?
This is a great time to head for the coast to get cool and try to catch something from the beach.
Many will leave the state headed to places that fish better in the summer like Montana and Alaska.
Great time to go swimming too.
** August is a big vacation month for people in this big hot valley. Most go to the ocean or high elevation to get cool.
