Hey Folks,
Just curious what you guys would recommend with all of the new lines out there.
I am still using the original line that Bob sent me with the rod and its coming up on a few years of age.
Just wondering what line you guys would recommend from the off the shelf choices out there nowadays.
Grain weight is 350-550, but scaling the original line it looks like 342 grains for the body/head and 157 grains for the tip.
Any recommendations of lines you guys have been stoked on would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,.... I have a 6/7 weight, Beulah (10' 6") Switch rod that I'm using an Elixir line made for that weight on. It's a sink tip. I've not been disappointed with it for salt or fresh water. Also, use a running line/shooting head (t-11) set up with it in larger rivers (probably Stripers, too).... :D :D

No floating lines yet.

Have you contacted Bob? He knows rod/line matches intimately. Also James at Beulah could recommend the right line. Bob was on the Beulah design staff and James is a very inovative thinker and Beulah has a good variety of lines now.

Paul, Bob Meiser and Gary Anderson have each created a line recipe for every rod they build. These lines come from 6 unique RIO tapers engineered and produced specifically for them. These 6 lines or heads can produce 60 tapers and custom variations are endless. These scandi and lite skagit lines/heads can be set up for either polys or the new ZINK TIPS in 6, 10 or 14 grains at any length with welded loops both ends. Nobody knows their rods like Bob or Gary and both are prolific innovators, you should contact them for the best line fit because, the magic is in the match. spg

Paul another good line to consider is Airflow's new Compact Scandi. Give Jason a call at the shop and he'll get you dialed in.

Thanks guys. I'll definitely give Bob a call, but was curious about other options out there should I need something in a pinch.
Was kind of surprised looking at all of the offerings out there nowadays.
Elixir, Airflo, integrated running lines, etc.
Granted, I only get to use this stick for spey stuff a few times a year and then it goes back to sink tips for halibut and saltwater species.
I'll give the shop a call as well and maybe try the airflo line as well.
