Inspired by recent posts on the topic, I decided to commit to the streamer today. Hit the Truckee from 10-12 and 1-3. Thunder and Lightning forced some fishing breaks. The water is a little high and a touch off color, but definitely fishable. Only landed one fish, the smallest of the three I hooked.

The first one he hooked was BY FAR the biggest trout I have personally seen. I was a couple of hundred feet down stream when it jumped- and to say it was "big" doesn't do it justice- it was simply HUGE!

Wow......
I think we all need to be throwing more streamers in rivers like the Truckee and East Walker.
Nice post Joe..........

That's why we fish the truckee!
I fished it today and went one for two rainbows on nymphs.
March browns came off good midday but nobody at the buffet.
A bit off color but flow right in there.
Tough fishing, but you got the prize
Congrats

Dries are fun but the grab from a big fish on a streamer is just heart stopping! Congrats on a beautiful Brown.

Holy Streamer Hog,
Did you get the takes right off the bank or did they take them in the middle of the run?

Thanks everyone!
I was kinda bummed about losing the first fish. It was easily half again as big as the fish in the pics.
The fly is pretty basic. Size 6 streamer hook. Cone head with lead wraps jammed into the cone. Sparkle braid wrapped down the shank and back up for a body. Zonker strip down the back and 3-4 wraps of cross cut rabbit as a collar.
All the hooked fish hit in the middle of the run. I did miss a couple grabs stripping the fly back.
Streamers are FUN! :D

Thanks Mike. Don't get me wrong, I had to put the rod in my mouth so you wouldn't see the s-eatin' grin on my face.
