Joey and I went out to break in his new Spey rod at Hoffman Park based on info from AR flyshop. We had the whole place to ourself but did not have any luck. Joey struggled with his spey rod and we switched from a Scandi to Skagit head. The 15ft leaders seemed to sink pretty fast. We also had a left to right current and he had not fished like that before. Only saw one drift boat in the area which quickly motored off to a different area. I would have said there were no fish there but we did run into a spin guy with a pretty orange/yellow bobber and a pink and white grub walking with a stringer full of Shad. I did manage to hook a land a nice T-shirt size small-medium. Lost several flies on the bottom and vacuumed up many branches. Going to give it another try tonight in a place with a right to left currnet.
