I'm fishing an area below shanghai falls (used to call it the shanghai rapids when I was a kid) in the evenings from a boat. Bite is from 5:30ish until I leave at 8:00. There are usually several boats in the area, but I haven't seen anyone else picking up many fish. It's been red smoking hot for me. My 8 year daughter and wife are both getting great time on the water and have really been developing their skills. No my daughter doesn't cast yet, I hand her the rod. Pink seems to be the ticket, but red/white and chartreuse tied on a #10 or #12 will also get it done. Bead or chain bead head, flashabou tail, keep it simple. I've backed down from a #7 sink tip all the way to a #5 at this point as it's not that deep where I'm getting hit. Sometimes you have to forget what you know! They are not holding to the channel. The hens are showing as of last Thursday.
