Its been a while since I posted a report. I have a fresh one that had some great moments so here it is.

My church put together a flyfishing retreat in my previous hometown (Bend) It was scheduled for 2 days, but a couple guys and I stayed for 7.

We fished the Crooked river the first couple days and it was as good as Ive ever seen it. I learned to flyfish on this river over 20 years ago. It was really good back then....its even better now! The numbers and size of fish was very impressive.

After a couple hundred crooked river trout (Im not kidding!) it was off to stillwater. My buddies were bound and determined to catch a big brown, so the next day was wickiup resevoir. They disected the shoreline with buggers and minnow flies while I leisurely bobbed around a shoal in my tube fishing chironomids. Well, the chironos were the tip of the day. They got zilch and I got 7 fish, including the largest fish of the trip, this 25" rainbow.

On the way home, we fished diamond lake. I dont think I know an adjective to effectively describe how good it was. I wish I wouldve taken more pics there, this is the only one and it wasnt one of the bigger fish.

Nice trip Jay.

But what, no stuck in snow stories?

Did you at least fall out of the boat?

Boat?

Maybe got a little thirsty?

An itch you couldn't reach?

Hangnail?

You'r gettin old on me buddy.

I used to think, "man, if I could screw up that much in 10 years as you do in one I'd consider myself a real fisherman."

Now here you are catching big trout, and lots of them, while staying perfectly dry.

What's the world coming to?

Ed

LOL!
Ed, that trip youre refering to gave a whole new meaning to Murphys law. If I have another one like that, I'll quit for sure!

Darian, Yeah, they are! I was calling them little tuna. They were very difficult to handle, you just couldnt get your hand around them. After a while, I just started popping the fly out with forceps and not touching the fish. They were like greased pigs :-)

Thanks for the comments guys! It was so nice to get out and have a great trip. It has been a while.
