HMMMMMMM, should I put this under Trout, Steelhead, or Shad!!!!
Just got back from a three day adventure on three Sacto Valley rivers. Late spring is a great time to fish these rivers before the heat gets too intense. First off we hit the American River in search of the elusive shad! Finally found them way down low in the river, but unfortunately we had to join the lineup!

Chris hooked up with the first shad of the year on 27 April. Things will really get hopping in a few weeks when they head upriver to more fly friendly water

Next up was the infamous "East Fork Putah Creek" with local boy done good Ryan Miller!!! I'm sure many of you will recognize this stream! ;) A bit cool and breezy in the morning, but many nice fish were brought to hand on a wide variety of flies. Unfortunately, the top producer was the much maligned San Juan Worm (blasphemy, but it sure does work!)

Our last river was the Feather River in search of the elusive spring run steelhead. The springers are smaller steelhead, perfect on trout weight rods and act like their trout cousins.
