Bill (me) & Jack (Cook), 32 inch inch wild chrome native hen on the Sauk River Saturday afternoon...I swung a black and red Skagit Minnow on my 15 foot 10/11 Sage Spey Rod.......40 inch leader, 9 feet of T14, Rio Windcutter, Marquis 3 wide spool Hardy. You got to love those Hardy's when the fish make them sing. All the best.

Jack, Next couple of weeks, I hoping to play hooky from work and leave around noon. Want to meet me up on the Sauk for an evening of fishing. VBJ

Most of the Sauk headwaters are in Natl Forest and fairly well protected. However, that river can cut loose with glacial silt with zero visibility for weeks at a time. Also, there are almost no wild steelhead left in the Sauk, and no hatchery fish. Total steelhead escapement for the rather large Skagit tributary is likely less than 2k fish per year. Be careful what you wish for.

As long as everyone thinks our rivers are sewers we will have them to ourselves. Thanks for spreading the word.
