Fished in the wind today, and it was howling! I wouldn't normally have fished on a day like today, but I had to kill a few hours, so I said what the hell. It was my imaginary Tierra Del Fuego. I was actually really happy with my casts, but the funny thing was that once my line got on the water, the upstream breeze just held the floating head in place, wouldn't even swing. The run is huge and normally a pretty slow moving riffle, but today was full on white caps. When I was walking in and saw waves, I thought maybe a boat just went through, but it was just crazy ass wind. Wading was brutal too, wind blowing one way, water pushing the other way, kinda freaky. It was still fun though, good practice. I went to another part of the river next where the wind was blowing downstream and it was much fishier, but still tough. I was using an Airlow 540 compact, 8.5' t14, Burkie 7133. No fish.
