April/May/June is the time we go after this big herring from the sea in Nor Cal that runs up over 5 pounds on occasion.
Shad and Stripers come in from the ocean and head up the Sacramento River to spawn every spring.
Shad seem to go up the Feather, Yuba and American Rivers too.
Early season, like right now, we look for them down river at the confluences from an anchored boat.
The mouth of the Feather River is a famous spot for early season American Shad.
Wade fishing will be at it's peak up most of these rivers in June.
