Hi Bill;

I was over at the lower Owens with Joe Libeu on Wed and Thurs. We had a great time, and the fishing was really great. On Wed we had an absolute blinding caddis hatch – they were in your glasses, up your nose, and all over your rod. The fish responded accordingly. A day to remember!!

It's true... the Lower Owens has been fantastic for a while now. Usually the brachycentrus caddis "event" happens a little later in spring, but there's been a lot of days w/ temps in the 70's in Bishop. At 4,000 feet alt. the dry air temps always feel a lot warmer. Water temps are consistently over 50 deg. mid day.

Winter can always return in a hurry, however, as last night Mammoth received over a foot of snow.

I'll try and get a good report together for our other Eastern Sierra waters real soon.
