I'd prefer a shory-belly (50 foot ??) floater .
The rod is a LOOP Blackline , 12 foot . 4 inch , 8/9 wt. .
Thanks for any help !!!

David,
There are two lines that you might consider:the Airflo Delta and the Rio Windcutter. You stated that you wanted something near 50ft. and a floater. The Delta 8/9 has a belly @57ft and weighs 600 gr. The Delta 9/10 is close to 57 ft. as well and weights 680 gr. The Rio Windcutter 8/9/10 is 54.5 ft. and weighs 585 gr. The Windcutter 9/10/11 is the same length and weighs 650 gr. I have not cast that rod. I would think that you would want something in the 650 range. I have a couple of those lines...somewhere. Let me know if you want to try some before you purchase a line.

Thanks for getting back to me , Terry .
The Blackline is pretty old , not to mention on the soft side (real Spey , not the Euro-fast type) . I think anything over 500 would seem heavy (I use it for overhead casting , and it seems to like 400-500 grains best) . I think J.P. has used the same rod , but I'm not sure how he lined it .
The problem for me is .... I don't know dooley about Spey lines/Spey casting . I figured that since I have the rod and a suitable reel now , I'd better get a grip on the rig and actualy USE it !!!
Thanks again for the help , my Friend !

I have quite a few lines that you might want to test out. We might try an Airflo 40+ or even an Outbound for overhead casting. I have the Dec Hogan classes this weekend. We can set something up towards the end of the month.

Thanks , Terry - perhaps out at Watt Ave. ??
I'm using a different overhead rod now , so I want to sort the correct Spey floater .

This is kind of weird David......
We were talking about the possibility of trying to catch Stripers in the lower American River on two handed rods this summer and I said that David Lee is the guy who could do it.
This was about two days ago.....too weird???

Are you ready for this ?????????????
I'm currently tying Flatwing Rainbow Trout in 1/0(East coast style of fly) ...... and was thinking that , w/ a floating line and fast sinking polyleader setup .... a Spey rig would be good for early-season Stripes on the A. !!
Thoughts and ideas converge ....... small world , eh ??
