Spring is upon us now with the warm sunshine raising water temperatures which excites us as well as our finned friends.
Resident trout and spring-run Half-pounder Steelhead are feeding on insects now in many low elevation Valley rivers and streams.
Warm water species are headed for the shallows to spawn and feed.
Stripers are starting to head north to around Colusa on the Sacramento River to spawn in April/May.
American Shad are right in there with them.
Low elevation trout lakes are a good bet now.
Pyramid Lake in Nevada is usually very good in the spring,with March/April/May being top months.
There is so much going on in April/May at the lower elevations it gets hard to choose.
