I nearly spit my milk and cookies across the room. Click on "Spey Guides" and it says "bs". click on "Spey Links" and it says "more bs".

Now maybe that's code for something else but it sure sounds like editorial comment from a non-fishing web designer to me!

Nice site though. Very nice to have that kind of resource.

Cheers,
Mike

We still have more to finish but wanted to get it up there.

Let us know if we have any obvious mistakes too.

Thanks

Mike,

Thanks for pointing that out. We were just making sure that tab worked for spey guides and links. I have cleared it and in the next few weeks we will be adding various links to other spey fishing sites that offer some good info and discussions. We will aslo be adding a guides page with recommended spey guides throughout the Pacific Northwest. Please stay tuned, we still have a little work to do.

Looks good Bill and Jason. I like the recommendations for matching rods, lines and reels.

I didn't realize Spey fishing demanded a whole separate site. Is that what the cool fly fisherpeople are doing these days?

Nice job guys! It's nice to have a one-stop shop for all the evolving spey rods and lines.

I believe there are around 500 fly shops in the US, or there was a few year ago.

Out of them maybe 50 (~10%) carry Spey equipment.

There are vertually hundreds of online fly fishing stores.

There are about a dozen online Spey stores.

We will be selling Spey equipment in the USA for now but will go overseas in the next while.

Right now we have the most diverse Spey inventory in California.

Right now we have the only Spey site that recommends the right size reels and right lines for all the rods we carry.

We are open 7 days a week.

Bill,

Any plan for a complete online shop?

Mik -
"the cool flyfisher's" not so much but enlightened absolutely and for some of us - getting old and looking for any way to allow us to continue our passion for as long as possible and as easy as possible!! And switches and two-handers make it much easier to fish all day and as an added bonus, except for a very few instances, fish much more effectively so I for one am blown away that Bill and others has put the energy into getting this awesome site up and running

I appreciate the insight Rick J. I was up on the Upper Sac at Mossbrae a couple years ago and they were filming a spey caster for a video. I always thought you needed big water for the spey. Maybe they just wanted the scenery.

While spey rods are great for casting long distances. That is not what makes a two handed rod a great fishing tool. A spey rod alows you to cast heavy tips and big flys and make a slow tight line downstream presentation that is not possible with a single handed rod.

As a fly fisher, I was introduced to the spey "game" by Dec Hogan in March 1996 on the Skagit. (Luck/fortune is all about being in the right place at the right time!)
Scott O' Donnell taught me the fundamentals of spey on the Skagit/Sauk, Grand Ronde, NW Oregon and SW WA river systems over the next decade. I have been privileged to interact with passionate spey guys like Jeff Putnam, Simon Gawesworth, Mike McCune, Ed Ward, Larry Takeuchi, Doug Duncan, Simon Hsieh, Ron Hayashi, Gary Anderson, Bob Meiser, Kerry Burkheimer, Todd Scharff and most recently, Jason Hartwick...if there is anything "cool" about these guys, it is their passion, dedication and devotion to the sport.

Down through the years I have lived and loved this aspect of fly fishing, I have always appreciated how willing the employees at Kiene's have been to accommodate my personal needs in regard to spey and all the other types of fly fishing I love.

Congratulations to Bill, for his never ending fascination with this sport, and to he and his tireless staff who are dedicated to enable us to enjoy spey and all forms of fly fishing.

I am willing to travel a long way to enjoy my sport but have the luxury of knowing Kiene's Fly Shop, and now, Spey Shop can oufit me regardless of where I choose to go!

Thanks, guys!

Tony,

We are going to work hard on this online Spey store for a while.

We have lots to learn so it will be a while before we bite off any more parts of the sport.

Right now there are tons of good online fly fishing stores but only a few two-handed stores.

I think that was Chris King... in the Sage DVD...
