AR Report 3/8/09

I finally bought my license and got out for some fly fishing on Sunday. It has taken me a while to get going this year due to hernia surgery in Jan. I headed down to the lower American to give it a shot. It was a nice morning on the river and I happened to see a couple of hawks mating in a tree across the river. I haven't seen that before. I managed to land a nice halfpounder. I did a quick measurement in the water and it was around 18-19 inches. All and all it was a very enjoyable morning. I snapped a quick picture with my camera phone, but it didn't come out that good.

March/April/May can be great for spring run Half-ponder Steelhead if the water is not at flood stage.

Caddis will be hatching in the afternoon on most low elevation Valley rivers.
