I just recently had a chance to do some fly fishing in New Zealand. Since I didnt have much vacation time at my job I was forced to quit (!) , but well worth it. This is one the best fishing trips I have ever done, I can wait to get back.

It was a bit more difficult in the beginning for me, the fish werent that easy to catch in the gin-clear water. I finally figured a few things out, to see a 5+ pound brown trout rise from the bottom of a 6ft deep pool to take a dry fly is just amazing. Here are some photos from my trip ........

Man, I am envious of you. I was near where you were a couple of years ago. I didn't get the opportunity to fish that stretch where you were at. Now I see the opportunity you had:| How was the weather??? Was the water in good shape??? When I was there, it was a bit dry & the water levels were similar from our last few years here. Anyway, Cheers Mate. I hope you had the opportunity to down a couple of Speight's...The Beer for the Southern Man

The beer in NZ is really good. Speights, Monteiths and Macs all great beer makers, I had a bit of a hard time with the Tui thought. My favorite was the Macs Hop-Rocker , good stuff. Funny was Stienlager, the only NZ beer I have seen in the states and no one likes it overe there. Same thing with Fosters in Australia, was like no one ever heard of it , and if they did they would look at you funny when you brought it up.

I really cant wait to get down there again, I am still going through withdrawls. Water levels were a bit low. Several river I heard were good the levels were a bit too low to fish (.. so I was told). Sand flies were the killer though, Id rather put up with wasps!

Now i gotta find a job!
