Any thoughts on tubing Collins Lake? Never been there and drive by the sign many times on the way to Yuba.

Thanks,

Jet

Merle Collins Reservoir is famous for Thread Fin Shad being eaten by Rainbow Trout on the surface in the fall for starts.

I am sure it has some action on top and shallow all winter.

Spring (April/May) should be good for bass in the shallows.

Collins is one of my favorite places to fish the Spring. You can catch a mix of trout and bass on flies. I fish it in a pontoon boat. I can cover a lot more water than I can in my float tube. Most years I manage to score at least 1 trout in the 4lb+ range.

We gave it a shot on Saturday but did not have any luck. The sun was out and the temp was about 60 degrees. When we launched our float tubes the wind started. We made one pass down and back along the dam but did not have any luck. No one on shore or in boats were having any luck. The wind was so bad there were white caps as be took out. We will have to give it another try closer to spring. We hit the Yuba that afternoon.
