Yeah, the river is low and the wading looks easy, but be careful out there guys/gals.

I happened to drive by as they were loading the unfortunate fellow into the coroners van. I don't know if it was a fellow fisherman, but my wading belt will be a wee bit tighter next time.

No luck in the fishing department either, a beautiful afternoon tempered by the loss of someones loved one.

I fished the area above the bridge "UCD property" last Saturday and even with the flows as low as they are I was a little worried about crossing the river. It was the first time I wished I had a wading staff. And I'll cross white water without thinking twice about it.

I also struck out on the fishing as well.

hmm. I would like to here some more info about this one.

I never fish without a staff. You never know.

19 bodies over the last three years? Wonder if that is a misprint. Either way, a sad story.

That is truly sad. Sections of that river are pretty wide and you can get pretty far out there and still only be waist deep in the water. I can see someone making a mis-step and getting swept away, unable to regain their footing and perhaps not making it back to shore if they're a weak or non-swimmer. . . .

Makes me wonder why you don't see more folks making use of these things:

I think mine was about $70 brand new and you wear it like a belt. Pretty darn cheap and unobtrusive, especially when you balance those things against the potential risk. Something else to think about. . . .

I was told today by a reputable source that the deceased had a bullet wound to the head.

Hmmm, trying to figure out what Mike's up to.

He's got an inflatable PFD, a wire cage, and a headlight.

Just wondering.

I drifted the Yuba today, and we actually talked to the crime scene investigators. All they said was a "body was found." No way of knowing if it was a fisherman, but I'm guessing with 4 county divers in in the water it wasn't.
