Not sure this hasn't come up here before but it's being discussed on other BB's. The NOAA/NMFS are setting up a federal registry for fisherman of all states adjoining saltwater. Of course, the registry has some costs associated with it and that cost would be passed on to us. The amount is estimated to be around $15 - $25. With this fee we're headed for $75.00 in license fees in this state.

The point of the registry is to survey info about anadromous fisheries and applies to fishing in estuaries, as well as in-shore, off-shore and surf. I'm all for surveys but this seems to duplicate our own, annual licensing reporting requirements. :confused:
There're some exemptions proposed that could apply to us in California if DFG is able to provide the required info instead of us. Hopefully, they're already looking into this. :confused:
