Does anyone use a 4 cyl vehicle to pull their drift boat? I have a late model Tacoma 4 cyl and want to buy a drift boat. I am just worried it won't pull it up hills very well. Thanks.

I use my '99 Subaru Outback (2.5L 4-cyl) to pull at 15' fiberglass boat and it does great. I've run it up to Redding and back probably 10 times and have had no problems. I haven't noticed much of a problem on hills, although I typically back off the speed a bit on hills (as in 60 MPH instead of 70 MPH) just to go easy on the engine and the gas. I also back off if I'm towing in the heat of summer with the AC going, probably something I'd do whether I had a 6-cyl or this car.

I pull mine with on 05 Tacoma 4cyl. If you have a cover for the boat use it, otherwise the boat acts as a sail catching wind and killing mileage. As for power, it works just fine.

The tongue weight on a 16' glass drift boat is about 75 lbs. I can almost pick up the tongue and pull it down the street. You could pull one with a toyota tercel in a pinch. You don't have a think to worry about with your Tacoma.
