FINALLY got to fish Red for one last time this year. I've been wanting to catch some brookies for a while now. Got steered clear last week and had fun at Fuller instead, but I was determined.
Played hookie from work and got a late start this morning. Fished it from 11:00 to 5:00 or so but didn't get into any fish for a few hours. Didn't look promising.
Day started off clear and calm though, surprised to find glassy water still near noon! Some thin ice at the dam, and more in the shade in the south-western corner in the shade.
Finally started catching fish and ended up with some nice brookies:

for example (surprised not to get any of the bright spawning colors yet),
and this surprise (though I have to admit I was dreaming of this) LCT:

Water was 38-40 degrees, no surface action at all until late in the afternoon.
All fish caught pretty much dragging bottom in 13 - 20 feet of water using a Type IV line and buggers/leeches/scuds.
There, Red can now go ahead and ice over for the winter. I'll be back in the spring! :)
