So, the plan was to fish Red Lake yesterday, but a report from a fellow FFer steered us elsewhere.

jblack, his buddy, and I ended up at the old standby (Fuller) instead.

Fish were everywhere based on surface action all over the lake, however they were quite finicky. Seemed like they were either on the bottom or sippin' bugs off of the surface. I was mostly casting and stripping leech patterns though the Jarret and Russ were switching things up flinging dries and emergers.

I ended up bringing 5 like this to the net, and having some "quality time" with at least that many, and missing a bunch more:

Also finally got to use my new photo-rig (last time in the rain I had to abort) and got the bugs out after this try (GOTTA remember to check the zoom before pulling the trigger):

I generally used a delay timer, but you can see my trigger remote in the non-trout-bearing hand.

Pics of my flotilla partners:

And at the end of the day, fish were really starting to rev up. I hate it when that happens!

I really love this lake...

I knew I should have gone there instead of Red Lake, and for those that want to know, Red Lake kicked my butt and froze my feet. The temp was 39 at Red Lake and you only had to break through a little thin ice to get out to unfrozen water about 20 or so feet.

I learned a new lesson, if the edges of the lake are frozen, don't go in.

I heard from a bait 'n lure fisherman that he actually had decent luck on Saturday at Red - but not the knocking them dead type of day. Did you fish all the way to the back near the inlet?

Fuller was at 47 degrees (water) and sunny.

What happened to Wrights?

I saw the bait guys getting fish, then I learned that they were targeting fish that were spawning near shore so I stayed away from there. I prefer to leave fish alone when they are getting their thing on.

And yes I fished all the way to the back, I covered the whole lake.
