Merced River Report

Headed up to the Merced River below the entrance to Yosemite off Hwy 140. Weather was on the cool side with a heavy wind but the fishing sure didn't slow. Best flies were Black AP nymphs with size 18 baetis droppers. In some spots I had to go to a 15 foot leader, most all fish in the deeper runs behind boulders.

Thanks for the report and just out of curiosity, did you get a water temp?

The only reason I ask was I fished one of my favorite mountain streams on Monday, and the water temp was between 42 and 45. I knew it would be slow, and boy was it ever. Took 6 hours to land 2 fish. Sounds like you had great success.
