As of 31 Oct there were 4017 fish over Gold Ray and typically by this date 72.5% of the run is complete making a projected run of 5540 fish. The ten year average is well over 10,000 fish. In 2004 the numbers were 13658, 2005 10414, 2006 14579 and last year 7568. Sure hope the extremely large half pounder count this year will translate into a decent run in the next couple of years.

It looks like similar results on the Klamath this year. More half pounders than I have seen the last few years but very few adults! Hope the down cycle does not last too long!

It's nice when we have Halfpounders in the river because that way people hook something once and a while every day.

I liked using a 6 weight single handed rod for years with a floating line on the Klamath River with a old racket reel so the Halfpounders are fun and then if you get an adult fish you are kind of in trouble for a while.

I think we always have these cycles that are a "who knows?" kind of deal.
