This is one of the best fly fishing months of the year:

This is the biggest month for Stripers in the Delta. It does help to have a boat for standing and throwing lead-core heads and big flies.

This is a great month for Steelheading in Nor Cal.

As the water cools we will be moving from swinging with floating lines to sink-tips.

Indicator nymphing is very effective as the salmon spawn and waters cool.

November is good for Steelhead on the Lower Feather, Lower Sac, Trinity and Klamath.

Some will venture up into Oregon to the North Umpqua, Deschutes, Grand Ronde and Rogue Rivers.

Valley reservoirs are cooling off now and will start to have Thread-fin Shad schooling on the surface. Game-fish will be working these schools especially on calm days.

Berryessa, Oroville, Folsom, Collins, Shasta are just a small list of these low elevation reservoirs that are all over the state.

Mostly trout work these fish but other game-fish will be up there too.

This is the time for the famous Eagle lake with it's very large average size Rainbow Trout.

Many will start to hit Pyramid Lake out of Sparks, Nevada as it is cooling off too. It has very good fly fishing for Cutthroat trout that can run over 10 pounds at times.

You can wade fish Eagle and Pyramid too.

Try to get out now will it is still not freezing cold.

Dec/Jan/Feb are still good months but it does get too cold for many.
