Just had a customer in yesterday who went on this pack trip in Montana in early September. August is a good month for this trip.

He caught large wild Cutthroat trout that ran from 12 to 16 inches and some up to around 20.

He said there were giant Bull Trout in there too.

He said they went in 8 mile the first day to get up to Young's Creek which is a tributary to the South Fork of the Flat Head River.

After that big ride in they stayed in one camp for 7 days.

He said the trip was extrmely well done. This is an old very famous pack company.

We just don't have fishing like that in our CA high country.

Some years ago Randal Kauffman wrote articles about his experiences in the Montana high country.

Now THAT sounds like fun. No cars, hiking, packing gear in. Oregon trail style fishing.
