Was talking recently with top fly fishing photographer Val Atkinson.

He said he had recently purchased his first digital SLR camera.

Val told me he is using "Light Room" which is a new software for massaging photos by Adobe.

He said it is easier than photo-shop for most and only $300.

Bill, Lightroom is a great photo management software that also allows you to edit the RAW files and tweak the picture in many ways yet it lacks the hardcore picture editing power of Photoshop...and for those people who do not edit heavily in photoshop Lightroom would be all they ever needed.

Thanks Adam....

Sounds like that is what I might need if I get more time.

Do you sell that at Best Buy?

I don't think we sell it online but I know that our store doesn't sell it in the store. Many of my photographer friends at school use lightroom...... that is those who can afford it.

Hi Bill / Adam,

For what it is worth, I use Lightroom in combination with Photoshop CS 3.

Lightroom is an excellent organizational tool as well as a batch processor. Meaning you can make macro adjustments to one photo and then apply these changes to the entire shoot. The organization portion of this software is top notch. Especially when you have thousands of photos to go through...

Then when you find the one photo you want to spend a bit more time on you upload to CS3 and fine tune your photo. Curves, Saturation, sharpening etc...

These two programs are incredible and I could not live with out them!
