I headed up to Deer Creek today to check out the fall colors w/ my favorite photography/fishing/hiking/etc buddy.

If anyone gets a chance to head up there I would suggest that you do it, its really beautiful up there. One of the best spots I found was 30 minutes from Chico so there are no excuses for anyone in the Chico area!

All of these pictures were taken 10 minutes or less off of Highway 32

Thanks for the nice photos Josh. It sounds like you enjoyed your short trip up there. I also took some pictures today, but I was to Butte Creek....it was not as beautiful as Deer Creek right now though. Glad to see you gettin out and shootin.

I saw that the colors were decent off of Humboldt Road, they'll probably be really nice in a few weeks.

So did you do any fishing? I hit that spot this spring and caught a few.

Are you using a tripod to take those photos?.. what was the shutter speed and other specs?

Bolden,

Thanks. I think those big plants are Indian Rhubarb. I know a lot of people call them elephant plants or elephant ears though. Some of them turn a deep blood red up there, really pretty.

I didn't do any fishing as it is actually closed to fishing right now due to the summer fires. It is actually closed to stopping also, but you can get away with it.

WT,

Yes, I used a tripod. They are cumbersome but it doesn't take long to realize that they are an absolute must. I don't know what kind of specs you'd like so I'll give you a bunch:

Lens: 12-24 mm (most were taken from 12-15 mm)
Polarizer
2 stop neutral density filter (on most shots)
ISO 100
Aperture: 13-18
Shutter: 2.5 to 15 seconds

Hope that helps!
