All of my half-pounders on the A came on tan fox's poopahs.

I usually have two under an indicator or a large dry acting as an indicator. I have also caught on the swing with two poopah's and no indicator.

Hi Kim,

For halfpounders Dirty Birds have been my go to fly on the American but this year it's been gray FBPTs.

Dirty Birds are great for dead drifting and swinging both, I love it. It's a very versatile fly and good to use on rivers like the American which have big caddis hatches...which is almost every river out there :-)

Here is a quick how to on the caddis poopah that works everywhere, I like to dead drift it and then let it swing tight at the end, the takes can be awesome. A beaded version works great too.
