What type of cameras do you guys use?

For a point and shoot I use my waterproof Pentax Optio W10

For my professional style shots I use a Canon 40D

I'm interested to see what you other guys are using!?!

Rob, I wouldn't mind having the 50D but the 40D is doing just fine for me right now, I love my camera...especially now that I am using a better lens.

Rob, have you taken any pictures lately?

I was looking at the 50d , but will go with 5d and a full size censer .

not much .

The fall colors did not turn out like last years . The brush starting to turn color then it rained and took all the leaves off . Been hunting deer and elk a little with my muzzle loader and it's now duck season . Did a lot of fly fishing before Cody left on his mission for our church, but its just not the same with out him . I just don't enjoy going as much , hunting or fishing . Got so use to having Jason or Cody along for the last 15 years, and that was half the fun just being with them . Now i get bored , fish for a hr or so and come home . I have been doing a lot of hiking with my Lab ( Cody's Temp replacement ) and enjoying that .

Jake is a good dog and sure loves to duck hunt with me .
Hard to keep him out of the water though .
When i am setting out all the decoys , he just can't stay on land .

Can someone remind me of the underwater point and shoot camera most of you use? I can't remember if it was an Olympus or Pentax.

Thanks.

Kraig, it's pentax Optio series waterproof camera I have the W10 but there's a newer model out now, the Optio W60, picture below:

http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/product/OptioW60BandS.lg.jpg

I love my Pentax and there's quite a few people on this board who have f seen the examples of pictures from my camera and followed my advice and purchased one for themselves.

Here's a few pictures from that camera:

Show off Adam! ;-)

I did follows Adam (and others) advice and go with the Pentax W10. I also shoot with a Nikon D-50 SLR and a Cannon SD1000 point and shoot. All pretty good cameras!

Some very nice pics! I use a compact Panasonic DMC FS20 10 mega pixles with a Lumix wide lens. Takes great shots, very functional design with anti-shake stability, an intelligence mode, 3" viewing screen and is small enough to easily fit in my vest pocket.

Rob, great pictures as always, gorgeous shots. Point and shoot cameras are great but they lack the control of the SLRs limiting your shooting options as you are aware.

Ty, that Panasonic is a nice camera. I especially like it's wider than normal lens (30mm equivalency) and the intelligent auto mode makes operating that camera very easy.

Do you have any cool fishing pics to share with us?

Perfect timing guys I am out of the doghouse after "water testing" my camera a cell phone and a PDA over the past year. I have been on camera restriction while fishing this summer well till now, As in a new Z-axis 7wt and no camera till the smoke clears. It looks like the Pentax is on the top of the list.

I also purchased the Pentax Optio W60 waterproof point and shoot and love it. One advantage it has over the Olympus is a 5x optical zoom vs. 3x for the Olympus. It has already earned the extra waterproof points when it self ejected from my vest into the shallow part of the river.

I shoot with a Pansonic Lumix FZ-50. I love it for its big zoom, big MP, and full features. About as good as you can get without going broke or moving up to a full DSLR.

I have mine rigged up to work on a remote shutter and delay for one-man pontoon brag photos.

See this thread for a shot of the rig and some examples:

Ty, it's not too hard.

Look at the sticky post oat the top of the general fly fishing page.

Adam, does the W60 have good macro characteristics? Also where do you recommend getting one and what price do they have on them?

Adam Grace

Johnny, if the W60's macro is like my W10 it has a great macro.

Here's some examples:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v238/flyguyag/bugs/IMGP1123.jpg

As far as where to get it, Google "Optio W60" and the majority of the top listed site should be selling it. Also B&H Photo Video is a highly recommended and trusted online store for cameras and camera accessories.
