Local guide Bill Carnazzo fished the Lower Sacramento River yesterday. Here is his email report ot me:

Hi, Bill...Attached is a pic of one of the fish I landed yesterday on the Lower Sac. with my friend Chris Parsons, a Fly Shop guide. The morning was slow, with only 2 fish to the net. Right after lunch the river came alive. I boated over 20 between 1:30 and dark. All of them were between 16-22 inches, very hot, fat and strong, and radiantly colored. Typical of what happens at this time of year when the bigger rainbows are behind the salmon redds, I long-released (break-offs and hook tosses) many more than that. When you hook large fish in relatively shallow water they take off like a rocket. Several of them put me way into my backing. It was one of those magical days you don't get too often.
