RED HOT Just got back from 3 days of fishing davis lake with some friends from GBF club. The top of Mosquito Slough is stacked up with trout, a indicater with a couple of midge pattern would put you into a 25 fish day. I choose to fish the flats of freeman bay and the lower coves, and flats of mosquito slough. I like to sight fish the flats for the larger fish, a black wiggle tail size 10-8 with a intermediate line will work. The big fish are in 1-2 ft. of water, so you have to be very quiet with you casting. Also the Lightning tree camp grounds is the only one open now. Watch out for the raccoon gang at night. http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w300/eugene047/davislake10-7-08009.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w300/eugene047/davislake10-7-08008.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w300/eugene047/davislake10-7-08003.jpg http://i179.photobucket.com/albums/w300/eugene047/davislake10-7-08023.jpg

Davis Lake is usually good in October.

Guys are already talking about next May/June for the damsels.

Sure was good meeting you guys the other night at the club. I love Davis Lake and hearing about how you did really got me wanting to go again. Black snail patterns, ,huh?

That's one beautiful fish Gene. I thought about Davis but with the temps in the 20's and that damn North wind I decided I'd wait for things to settle down a bit. We had a bit of snow here Friday - nothing stuck though.

Did any of your fish have that snail crunchy feel to their bellies? I hope to get out sometime this week once I complete a couple of projects around the cabin here.

Thanks for the report.

Pete

Almost all the fish were stuff full of snials and nymphs.
