Decided to give the half pounders a shot tonight. Got this one right off the bat on an 18 prince nymph, then nothing the rest of the night. Just so everyone knows, that deck on my boat was not hot and the fish was out of the water for a brief time and was revived with out any problems. By the way, the silver part of the deck is 19", so the fish is around 17-18".

Sad part of the story is right after releasing the fish, I went to dip my favorite Kienes hat in the water to cool off a bit, and it swam away as well as the fish did; that hat was close to 10 years old.

Very nice fish Charlie! Sorry to hear about your hat. . . I know the feeling -- my wife's retarded dog ate my beloved Kiene's hat last week. :(

Our Kiene's hats are free to all board members but you have to come in and see me to get them.

That's great to see Charlie. I hope to get one tonight also. Bruce caught one on Monday mid-river so maybe thay are starting to trickle in. From my sources, it appears that if you can catch one in an outing you're doing a lot better that most guys. For me I've been getting skunked on every outing. Every time I go out I keep teLling myself today's going to be the day. Jeff

Big stinky skunk for me last night "Wednesday", saw about 3 rise when the hatch was going off. Water is still a little warm but the air is cooling, fall is definetly here.

What is the water temp in the 'Lower A' now?

I never checked the temp but I would guess around mid 60's.

Skunked again last night on the middle river. The water looked great, just no one home. Jeff

Bill, if you follow this link, then bounce around a bit, you can get flow, and water temps -for the AR, and other local waters.

http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/stamap?s=NAT

Use 'NAT' for outflow at Nimbus, 'AFO' - AMERICAN RIVER AT FAIR OAKS, 'AHZ' - AMERICAN R AT HAZEL AVE BRIDGE, etc.

Thanks H2O

Didn't know water temps were on the web. That's great.
