Well, I can sum it up with 2 words. Slow and Windy.
It was still a good time, I'd never show if it wasn't. Met some new friends, got another big bunch of free knowledge, some more tying tips, add some more fish and maybe a winning lotto number and it would have been perfect.
I showed up Friday afternoon, just as Scott was finishing setting up the Megalith, geez that things big. We hit the water around 4 and were joined by AndonB in his boat. Me and Scott spent a few hours getting blown around, getting snarls in the line, snagging on tules, just generally having a blast. Andan came by again with some cock and bull story about catching 3 by some rock wall, yeah, sure ya did. :D Back to the docks and dinner. That little cafe has a kinda short :? menu but what they do have they do pretty well. By now the wind is howling.
Saturday morning, hit it early and hit it hard. We had a brief respite from the wind. It didn't stop but it did slow down for a while. I caught my one and only LMB and dropped another during this relative calm at high tide.

It was actually light just not light enough to satisfy my camera.
We all managed to get together about noon for a bbq/bs session. That part's always a blast. Met some new fishers, some of them neighbors of mine, did some grillin, and talked fishing for a couple of hours. Then we went back for another dose of hurricane force winds and tsunamis in the evening. Mike Churchill called me on my cel and said he found a school of tiny stripers by the first opening in the wall. Since I'd been catching both Jack and sh_ _ pretty regularly by then I jumped on it.
So here we go, me and my eight ft pram on the outside of the wall on Frank's Tract during a high wind. The roller coaster ride was non stop. Mike was plucking diapers out of there almost non stop. I think he had a supply of anchovies stashed somewhere. While I did pick two up baby stripes the beating just wasn't worth it. I was the first to bail.Although it looked like everyone else was just waiting for someone to go first. They were all coming in behind me when I cleared the opening. It's hard to tell from these pics but I was bouncing up an down the whole time out there.

If you look real close and squint a little you can see Scott's holding up a newborn striper.
This is just another shot taken from out where I shouldn't be.

Back at the dock that evening there were the usual incredible stories, the big one that got away , the big one that rolled right in front of someone , the ever popular, and my personal favorite the "you should have been here yesterday" stories.
New for this year, although I can't verify it I still believe it, was the gigantic striper by the docks nibbling on a slice of bread. Apparently this Mo is a local, the owner sees him all the time.
There are some issues there at Lundborgs that have made me want to relocate this event for next year. Looking for ideas for maybe the Moke side of the delta. We need a spot with a no wake zone for float tubes to fish, campsites, a boat ramp, and tons and tons of fish just chomping at the bit to bite a fly.
We can actually do without the first three items. :D Ed
