This novice spent the day on the South Fork above 4,000 feet and though I only landed one, it was the best yet--a 13-inch rainbow. The fight was awesome and I'm addicted. So the question is, I know I have to expand my repertoire beyond just dries. Any suggestions for where I might begin? Thanks ahead for all the help.

As I have been told and found to be true "it is the sierras, anything will work". When I am not throwing dries which is rare up on the South Fork, I will use Hare's Ear nymphs and always carry black ants. Usually anything in the size 16 range seems to be good. Go with the natual earth colors, your olives and brown colored flies. And you can never go wrong with peacock hearl flies.
