Big thanks to Terry Thomas, trip host for the Nicholas Dean trip last week. All went smoothly, including oversize baggage handling, and all connections (Thank God, we can all still walk fairly rapidly!).
Everyone got into steelhead, the Copper and Skeena fished well and those lucky enough got to experience the early coho.
I was lucky enough to be paired with Sonja Sorbo and witnessed her hooking and landing her first dry fly steelhead, an experience I shall never forget.
Pictures are available- wish I was computer literate enough to post some...
Those of you who have yet to experience Nicholas Dean Lodge and Skeena country- you really must go!
Thanks again, Terry!

Terry Thomas found this lonely suicidal Steelhead (wild chromer) and took full advantage of it.

World class Spey angler Sam Dasher (on right) did well up there too.

Terry Thomas on right with a big fat fresh-run Silver (Coho) Salmon.

The Nicholas Dean Lodge out of Terrace, BC is a great place to gor for Steelhead and salmon. They pretty much have a 12 month season up there with many rivers to fish.

Thanks Don. The group of ten anglers had a very good trip last week at Nicholas Dean Lodge. They had some big rain storms the previous week and the rivers were dropping into shape. The hot river for the week was the Copper River. Don and Sonja Sorbo started the week off in great fashion on Monday with Sonja landing a wonderful steelhead while skating a steelhead bee dry fly on the Copper River. Don showed his sprinting talent while trying to keep up with one of the chromers going down through a rapid...fish one, Don zero. Don did make a good come back later in the day with two nice bright steelhead. Dave Mathews and Craig Dennis did the long walk into the uppper Copper with success as well. Craig had the hot hand and also brought a steelhead to the dry and landed a large steelhead. Dave landed several steelhead for the week on the Copper and Skeena Rivers. Mattie and Bob Tacy also had their best day on the Copper. They did the float with Sky and had their best day landing several great steelies. The photo with Sam Dasher and our guide, Sky, was taken on the middle Copper as well. We had a very good day on the Kasiks River chasing coho salmon. I was amazed at how much line some of the salmon took off the reel with several jumps thrown in. The best day of the week was one that Carl Riccoboni and his partner John Millichap had on the Copper River the last day of the trip. They managed to land nine steelhead out of twelve hooked that day. The Kalum River was just coming into shape as we left. Craig and Sam landed a couple nice cohos
on Friday and "farmed" three steelhead on the same river on Thursday.
Dustin and Chad did a super job keeping all of the group happy and into fish. As usual, Jean was masterful in the kitchen. I think Don goes just for Jean's cooking :D :D . Thanks again to all of the group. Hope we can put another one together in the future.

That smile alone tells the story of your trip to me. I hope to make it up in there in a couple years.
